Heroes of Today protests intolerance

For International Intolerance Day 2020, DDB Spain and Heroes of Today reminded the world that intolerance is still a reality for many LGBTQ+ individuals. A chilling short entitled ‘Intolerance is Still There’ takes viewers back to the unforgettable events of New York City’s Stonewall Inn during the Summer of 1969.

The spot recreates the events of one of the most famous moments in the American gay rights movement, when riots broke out at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, a gay bar that is now an international symbol for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals. What seems like a direct recreation of events takes a turn with the appearance of pro soccer player Julio Zuñiga. Zuñiga, who was murdered in 2017 after publicly coming out as gay, appears as a reminder that many LGBTQ+ individuals still face intolerance today.
